The forgiving planet choice: high enough for detail, bright enough for any evening.

The holder is double-designed: the eyepiece fits directly into both a 1.25-inch and a 2-inch focuser, without an adapter.

ED optics for color purity

The ED element keeps color errors low, and the multi-layer coating on all air-to-glass transitions maximizes light transmission. The result is a sharp, high-contrast image all the way to the edge, even on faster telescopes.

20 mm eye relief and 70 degrees

This combination is what the Redline is known for: the wide field of view of a wide-angle eyepiece combined with the relaxed viewing experience that eyeglass wearers need. On a Dobsonian telescope without a tracking motor, objects stay in view significantly longer.

Ready for photography

Under the eyepiece is an M43 thread. You can use this with an adapter to connect an eyepiece projection camera, for example, for moon photography with a system camera.

What do you see with 8 mm?

On a 200/1200 Dobson, an 8mm eyepiece gives a magnification of 150x, and on a 130/900 Newton, it's 113x. The cloud bands of Jupiter and the relief of lunar craters come through sharply.

Globular clusters begin to resolve into stars at this magnification.

Featured accessories

The Redline series ranges from 3.5 to 32mm with the same eye relief and eye distance: a set of two or three focal lengths covers everything from planetary detail to overview. An Omegon moon filter dims the bright moon image at longer focal lengths.

For whom yes and for whom no

✓ Advanced observers who want one series for planets and deep-sky

✓ Scope Mounts: 20 mm eye relief with full 70-degree field of view

✓ For those who want to photograph with eyepiece projection, thanks to the M43 thread

For those on a tight budget: the UWA series offers wide-angle views for less money

Specifications

Focal length

8 mm

Apparent field of view

70 degrees

Eye relief

20 mm

Optical design

multi-layer coated, with ED lens element

Mount

1.25 and 2 inch, with filter thread

Photography

M43 thread under the eyepiece

Series

Omegon Redline SW 70°

You can find more accessories for this merk at the Omegon merk Page.

The Omegon Redline SW 8mm eyepiece (1.25 and 2 inch) offers a 70-degree field of view, an ED lens element, and 20mm eye relief.
