Omegon Camera veTEC 410 C Color: cooled full-frame camera with 24 megapixels<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The veTEC 410 C works with the Sony IMX410, a full-frame sensor measuring 36 by 24 mm. This makes its field of view comparable to that of a mirrorless interchangeable-lens camera, but with active cooling and none of the compromises of a still camera.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The pixels measure 5.94 micrometers. That is large, allowing the camera to capture a lot of light per pixel and making it well-suited for optics with a medium focal length.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sensor and field of view<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

The sensor has 6064 x 4040 pixels on a 43.3 mm diagonal. At full resolution, the camera reads out 15 frames per second at 14 bits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The full well capacity is 20,000 electrons at high gain and 100,000 electrons at low gain. The read noise is around 1 electron and the quantum efficiency is around 80 percent.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Cooling and dark current<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

A cooled sensor is the difference between a usable and an unusable five-minute exposure. This camera cools to 35 degrees Celsius below ambient temperature. This causes the dark current to drop to a level where faint nebulosity emerges above the noise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Because you set the sensor temperature to a fixed value, dark frames remain usable over multiple nights. This saves calibration work each session.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Connect and back focus<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

The camera has a T2 thread with a flange distance of 17.5 mm. The connection on the telescope side is M54, matching the sensor size. The filter thread is 2 inches. An M54 to T2 adapter is included for a full-frame setup in the bag.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With the loose 12.5 mm adapter, you reduce the flange distance, which provides space for a filter wheel or an off-axis guider in the optical train.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Rear USB hub<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

There are two additional USB ports on the back. You can connect a guiding camera or an electronic focuser to them, for example, so that only one cable runs to your computer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The hub works with USB 2.0. For the camera itself, you use a USB 3.0 port on the computer, otherwise the read speed will drop.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Software and method<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Control is via ASCOM or INDI, with which the camera cooperates with N.I.N.A., SharpCap, APT, and Siril. Omegon's free capture software can be downloaded.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Please note: veTEC cameras do not have an ST4 port and are not intended for use as autoguiders. For guiding, combine the camera with a separate guiding camera, for example from the GUIDE or veLOX series.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
