Omegon Super Pl\u00f6ssl 56mm Eyepiece (2 inch): Maximum Field of View for Long Telescopes<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Omegon Super Pl\u00f6ssl 56mm is the overview eyepiece for telescopes with a long focal length. The combination of the 2-inch mount and the extremely long focal length delivers the lowest magnification and the largest true field of view that such telescopes can show.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On a Schmidt-Cassegrain with a 2000 mm focal length, 56 mm provides a magnification of 36x and a true field of view of approximately 1.5 degrees: three full moons side by side.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Who is this eyepiece intended for?<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Owners of a Schmidt-Cassegrain, Maksutov, or Ritchey-Chr\u00e9tien telescope will encounter the limits of their long focal length at low magnification. This eyepiece solves that problem: it turns a long telescope into a wide-field viewer for star fields, the Andromeda Galaxy, or the Veil Nebula.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It's also strong as a finderscope: at low magnification, you can locate faint objects faster and then switch to a shorter focal length.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Optics and visual comfort<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

The four-element design maintains high light transmission, with multicoating on every air-to-glass transition and blackened lens edges for a velvety black background. Edge sharpness is high, and color aberrations are hardly found.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With an interpupillary distance of 21 mm, you can view comfortably, even with glasses. The rubber eyecup blocks stray light from the sides.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
