From a garden with streetlights or on a clear moon, nebular photography seems almost impossible. The Askar H-alpha filter of 3 nm only allows a narrow band around the red H-alpha line of hydrogen. Almost all other light, including that from streetlights and the moon, is blocked out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This results in images with very contrasting emission nebulae such as the North American Nebula or the Rosette Nebula. This 2 inch filter is usually used with a monochrome camera, together with the OIII filter of 3 nm<\/a> and an SII filter for color recordings in, for example, the Hubble palette.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With a very powerful telescope, it is advisable to check whether a 3 nm filter is suitable for this purpose. This is a filter for the night sky and not a solar filter.
