A different wavelength, a different sun<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

H-alpha and Calcium-K lines different layers<\/em> from the sun's atmosphere. Whereas the red H-alpha line shows the higher chromosphere with its prominences and filaments, in the blue you look Calcium-K light (393.4 nm)<\/strong> deeper down. Supergranulation dominates there: a network of cells across the entire surface, with bright plage areas around active regions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Especially for photography<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Calcium-K is located at the edge of what the human eye can see<\/strong>. Many observers see a faint blue-violet image with little detail; older people generally see less than younger people. A camera doesn't have that problem. Lunt therefore optimizes the Ca-K modules primarily for photography: do not expect an H-alpha-like experience visually.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Assembly<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Remove the H-alpha etalon unit from the LS130MT and slide the Ca-K module into place of the blocking filter in the focuser. At the Does the LS130MT\/B1200 and B1800 work directly?<\/strong>. The LS130MT\/B3400 has the block filter fixed in the focuser, and you also need the conversion kit (item 0551696).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
