TeleVue Sol Searcher: Safe Sun Finder by Projection<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Sol Searcher solves the most dangerous aiming problem in astronomy: placing a telescope on the Sun without ever looking at it. A small aperture projects sunlight onto a screen; if the spot of light is in the center, the Sun is in your telescope.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So you turn your back on the principle of a seeker: never look through something, only at a projection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is how targeting works<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Mount the Sol Searcher parallel to the telescope tube and align it once on the Sun with the correct solar filter on the telescope. After that, each session is a matter of seconds: move the tube until the projected spot is centered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The finder works with any telescope and any type of solar filter, from white light film to an H-alpha telescope.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Safety first<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Never aim a telescope at the Sun without a suitable, undamaged full-aperture solar filter, and always remove or cover the regular finder scope.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Sol Searcher replaces aiming over the tube, but never replaces the filter itself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
