TeleVue DeLite 5mm: 62\u00b0 1.25\u2033 Eyepiece: DeLite eyepiece with 62-degree field of view<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The DeLite 5 mm is a commonly used planet brandeyepiece. On a telescope with a focal length of 1000 to 1200 mm brand, it provides a magnification that remains usable on most evenings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The DeLite series is designed as a compact version of the Delos: the same principle of a long eye relief, but with a 62-degree field of view and a smaller housing. This makes the series suitable for mounts and binoviewers where weight is a factor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The DeLite series is designed as a narrower Ethos field of view with more eye relief. By keeping the apparent field of view at 62 degrees, TeleVue was able to bring the eye relief to 20mm without making the eyepiece unmanageably large.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For eyeglass wearers, that's the difference between seeing the full field of vision and missing a part of it. Even without glasses, you're looking more relaxed because your eye doesn't have to push against the lens.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sharpness across the entire field<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

The optical design corrects astigmatism, field curvature, and lateral chromatic aberration. In fast systems, stars remain point-shaped even at the edge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a parabolic Newton with a short f-ratio, coma is the limiting factor. That is a characteristic of the mirror; a coma corrector solves this.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Interpupillary distance and adjustable eyecup<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

The eyecup is steplessly adjustable in height and lockable in any position, with index markings so you can find a previously found position. This ensures your eye's pupil is always in the same position relative to the telescope's exit pupil.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That's more than comfort. A misplaced eye causes edge discoloration and shadows in the image. With a fixed, repeatable eye position, that problem is gone, even during long sessions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In your telescope<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

In a telescope with a 1200 mm focal length, this eyepiece provides approximately 240x with a true field of view of approximately 0.26 degrees. For your own telescope, you can calculate this using the field stop: where field of view = 57.3 x field stop divided by the telescope's focal length.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The effective field of view of this model is 5.4 mm. That number determines how much of the sky you actually see, not just the focal length alone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
