The TeleVue Ploessl 11mm provides high magnification with slightly more eye relief than the 8mm. For globular clusters, planetary nebulae, and moon detail, this is a commonly used step.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Like every TeleVue Ploessl, it is parfocal with the rest of the series: switching means only minimal adjustment at most.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The TeleVue Ploessl design<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Four lenses in two groups are all a good Ploessl needs. Because there are few glass surfaces, transmission remains high and contrast is maximized: precisely the characteristics that matter for planetary and lunar observation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

TeleVue T-type optics brought the design to the current level in the seventies, with tight manufacturing tolerances, multiple coatings, and blackened lens edges. You can see the difference compared to a standard supplied eyepiece right at the edge of the field.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Between detail and comfort<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

At 11 mm, the eye relief remains a workable 8 mm for those viewing without glasses, while the magnification.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Combined with a 2x Barlow lens, this creates an effective 5.5 mm, allowing this eyepiece to also cover the high planetary magnification range.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In your telescope<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

In a telescope with a focal length of 1200 mm, this eyepiece provides approximately 109x with a true field of view of about 0.43 degrees. For your own telescope: true field of view = 57.3 x field stop divided by the telescope's focal length.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The effective field stop of this model is approximately 9.1 mm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Featured accessories<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

A TeleVue 2x or 3x Barlow lens doubles or triples the magnification of any Ploessl eyepiece without any loss of quality; two Ploessl eyepieces plus a Barlow lens thus cover four magnification levels. Models 25 mm and larger also accept the Dioptrx astigmatism corrector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
