This Newton reflector Dobson mount with a 204 mm aperture and 1200 mm focal length is particularly suitable for the Moon, bright planets, and a very wide selection of deep-sky objects. The optics are made of BK-7 glass and the mirrors are provided with an aluminum coating with 92–95% reflectivity, which ensures a clear and high-contrast image. On the Moon, fine structures become visible, such as small craters, mountain ranges, and subtle shadows. The brightest planets also come into strong view. Under good conditions, Jupiter shows multiple cloud bands and its largest moons not just as dots, but with a clearer disk. Saturn beautifully displays its rings, and with good seeing, more subtle details are also accessible. Mars can show a remarkable amount of structure during favorable oppositions.

For deep-sky objects This format is particularly attractive, especially under a dark sky. Star clusters resolve nicely into individual stars, bright nebulae show more structure, and galaxies are also more convincingly visible than in smaller telescopes. Nevertheless, expect a realistic image: visually, most nebulae and galaxies remain largely gray, but you will clearly see more shape, contrast, and detail than with a smaller telescope.

Dobson control: maximum aperture with minimum complexity

The Dobson mount is popular because it combines large optics with simple operation. You manually aim the viewer up, down, left, and right, without complicated alignment or counterweights. This makes the model surprisingly accessible, even for beginners who want a serious telescope right away.

Setting up is fast with the included red-dot viewfinder. Focusing is done via a 2-inch rack and pinion focuser with 1.25-inch adapter, which gives you a lot of freedom when using different accessories. The wooden mount is sturdily built and designed for stable observations.
