Stargazing choice guide
In our stargazing choice guide we guide you step by step to the right telescope. Based on your needs - from planetary detail to deep-sky - we'll show you the models that best fit them.
Choosing the right magnification? We explain what combination of telescope and eyepiece is needed to do this. Use the formula:
Magnification = focal length telescope ÷ focal length eyepiece
But: more is not always better. At higher magnification, the image becomes darker and more sensitive to vibrations. A well-balanced combination - for example, 70 mm aperture with a 10 mm eyepiece for 70x magnification - often produces the best image.
